Panama Coffee $105 lb!
While in Vancouver, BC for our 21st Anniversary we stayed at the Marriott Pinnacle downtown. On the corner of the same building is a small cafe. The door man told us ‘it has the best coffee in all of Vancouver!’
With a testimony like that we had to wander around the corner to check it out. To our surprise the menu posted just insdie the listed some of their gormet coffees for sale including Panamanian Coffee – our absolute fav at $105 lb. Really! No kidding! Here’s the proof -

Stanley Park – Vancouver British Columbia
It was our 21st Anniversary last week. Last year for our 20th we went to Whistler in the Rocky Mountain’s of British Columbia, Canada. Although we had pretty nice weather it really wasn’t the best time of year to go. It is kind of ‘in between’ seasons so a number of restaurants close for renovations and to get ready for the ski season. Plus the mountain is closed for about a month for the same reason so you can’t get up for hiking or sight seeing.
This year we decided to try the city instead. We stayed downtown at the Marriott Pinnacle. It is a beautiful hotel. Plus we had great weather on Saturday. So, we rented a couple of bikes and rode all the way round Stanley Park. We can now understand why people say this is one of the most beautifuo parks in the world!

Do you have a Phd in Parenting?
I was speaking with a parent the other day who was having some real challenges with his teenage son. He admittted alot of his frustration and concern was about behaviour he had also exhibited when he was a teen.
I listened and then asked him, “Throughout your life as a parent have you taken any parenting courses our read any books on the subject?”
His answer, although typical, also told be alot about why he was having this parent/child conflict. He said, “No one is going to tell me how to raise my child!”
It’s always been one of those puzzling attitudes I have not been able to figure out. If someone wants to build furniture they go getting carpenter training. If someone wants to repairs cars they get trained to be a mechanic. And yet for some odd reason many, many people believe the skills of being an effective parent are genic when in reality they are leaned just like any other skill!

Important Info on H1N1 Vaccine
Just watched and read a very good and very important post over at Mercola.com about H1Ni. He interviews Barb Loe Fisher who is the Founder of the National Vaccine Information Center. There are also great clips from the latest 60 Minutes episode which aired last Sunday.
The H1N1 push is such and important issue and we all need to be thankful for Dr. Mercola and good journalism like that presented on 60 Minutes which educates the public. We all need to stop buying into the mass media ‘propoganda’ being pumped through the 6 o’clock news by the Pharmaceutical industry. We all need to get educated about these issues. This is the kind of thing which could wipe out the human race and I’m not talking H1N1 I’m talking about the rushed vaccines that people line up for!
As Fisher says in the video, “Every vaccine has side affects!”
Read – research – study and ask the questions. And don’t think for a minute that the 6 o’clock news is providing any kind of valuable information! We all need to take time to get educated about anything the government or the news tells us ‘We have to do.’
Pet Peave
I’ve got a ‘Pet Peave’ that’s bugging me once again. It’s getting to be that time of year to plan parties – Thanks Giving Parties, Halloween Parties, Christmas Parties, New Years Parties… and the list goes on. Can you tell I like to party?!?
We really enjoy entertaining and having people over. Plus we like to throw a good bash with extras – enough food, drink and space so everyone can have a good time. To pull it off we need to know how many people are coming. So, we always send out an invite with an ‘RSVP’.
Now to me ‘peave’ – over the years fewer and fewer people ‘respond’. We have to follow up and follow up and people often say one of two things – ‘Sure we’re coming.’ (Thanks I guess I need to be a mind reader) OR, and this one really gets my goat, they say, ‘Oh, we’re not sure yet.’ In other words, we’ll be there if nothing better comes up. In the words of that proverbial sage, Jar-Jar Binks ‘How wooood!’
What has happen to common courtesy and an understand of basic etiquette? I even ran into someone the other day, a Doctor none the less, who didn’t bother sending an RSVP to a wedding invite. Yes, it is extremely rude and I for one have a little 3 strike rule – three non responses and you’re off my invite list!
