A Great Way To Save On Fridge Power Consumption

It is rather incredible just how much power a fridge uses. If you could see the amount of watts it uses a day then you really would want to do something about it. The answer is a chest freezer to fridge conversion. It may sound like such a thing is complicated but it is actually very easy to do.

In fact you can do it with a very simple plug and play device. You simply plug your chest freezer in to a simple and cheap device and then turn the dial to control the temperature that the freezer can fall or rise to. It really is that simple. The device will have a little temperature sensor that you put in to the freezer so that it knows the temperature. When the upper or lower limits are reached the device will then send power to the freezer to lower the temp.

After having just done a conversion myself I am still amazed at just how effective it is. Because we are using a very well insulated freezer we save so much on electric costs when we run it at fridge temperatures. And the other reason hwy it is so efficient is because the door on a chest freezer opens up. As cold air sinks we don’t lose the temperature as much as we do when we open the door on a normal fridge.

This has led to massive savings for many people and anyone who does this type of conversion can expect to be able to run a fridge for a tenth of what it costs to run a conventional fridge. It all helps to make self sufficiency more attainable. A lot more people have done this in recent years and I really wish I had done it some time ago myself. It is a shame that normal fridges are not designed in a different way so that they consume less power.
