Special gifts for kids on Easter

Easter is an exciting time of year for children, of all ages, as they wait in anticipation for the Easter Bunny to come to hide the eggs and leave them an Easter basket. It is also a time for you figuring out what to get the kids and going to the store trying to find a great Easter Basket. While the Easter Bunny gets all of the credit, you have to do the work. Don’t run yourself ragged thinking about what to get the kids for Easter. There is also no need to have to break the bank on store bought easter baskets. Here are a few simple ideas of some easter gifts for kids.

First, think outside of the box. You don’t have to spend lots of money on a premade Easter Basket filled with candy and junk that your kids probably do not even want. Making your own basket can turn out even better than the store bought ones and also be more personalized. They can be made from paper, a sandbox pail, a helmet for your skateboarders or a pretty bonnet for the little princesses. Try checking out a thrift store, or discount dollar stores, to see if you can find an inexpensive wicker basket and items you can put in it. For you older children, try using a laundry hamper, especially if they are going off to college soon. It can be filled with little things that can be useful when the big day comes to go away to school.

Also, you do not need to buy the plastic green grass to fill the basket. A couple of weeks before the big day, fill a basket with some potting soil and some rye seed. You will have real grass and it adds a great touch to your child’s basket.

Next, fill your baskets with anything your children will like. Plush toys, action figures and dolls are great for smaller children. You can also include building blocks, books or a bible as an added touch which is also educational. Children will also love fun art supplies and stickers. Individually wrap some homemade treats like rice crispy treats. For your older children, think about putting a gift card to their favorite store or cash. You may want to include more age appropriate items in their baskets such as scented soaps, hair accessories or their favorite comic book.

Easter gifts for kids does not have to be stressful or costly. With a little creativity you can create a personalized basket that they will enjoy and love. There are a lot of websites that will tell you how to make your own easter baskets.
