What You Should Know about Healthcare Jobs UK

Are you a healthcare professional?  Do you want to expand your skills while seeing the world?  Do you like to travel?  There are many opportunities to work overseas in the healthcare field.  One of the largest employers of health care professionals overseas is the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK.  Because the health-care system is centralized, applying for healthcare jobs UK is simple and straightforward.  The NHS is continually striving to improve its care and the demand for qualified overseas workers has never been higher.

Available Jobs

There are many different healthcare jobs available in the UK.  These jobs range from the softer side of the medical profession, speech and language therapy, art therapy, and the like, to the medical disciplines most people think of such as cardiologists, pharmacists, and psychologists.  Standard working conditions for UK jobs include a 37.5 hour week and 27 vacation days per year so you will have plenty of time to see the UK and the rest of Europe with just a year or two of overseas employment.

Visas and Other Paperwork

Getting together all of the paperwork for overseas employment can be a bit daunting for someone who has never worked overseas before.  In addition to the usual employment paperwork and references, there are a few things you need to do that are specific to overseas employment.  First you will need to obtain a work permit and / or visa.  Generally you apply for a visa to be granted permission to come to a country, and you get a permit, which gives you permission to be in the country, when you arrive with a valid visa.  If you have already secured a position, your employer should be able to help you get your work visa.  If you are from certain countries, you can probably get a visa to come in and look for work.  You will also need to get your credentials and licenses transferred over so you are registered with the NHS.  Most people will do this by submitting all of the relevant information to the Health Professionals Council (HPC).

While you are working abroad, take the time to expand you interest and learn something new.  You may take something extremely practical like plumbing courses, or you may get involved in cultural activities with people from around the world.  Your horizons will be broadened and you will realize that working overseas was one of the best decisions you ever made.

Larry’s comment: Prosperous thinkers always consider options which take them out of their comfort zone. Moving, working and living abroad can definitely lead to prosperity on so many levels!
